Long Time

Hi All,

It is a very long time since I have written anything here, but will try & keep you all updated as I get to hear about what is happening around the ridges.....

We had the annual Dysart Reunion last Sunday - I hadn't been to one for quite a number of years, especially working o/s, but it was good to catch up with everyone. Although I must admit, there wasn't many I knew, but of course, about 6 of us were the last to leave, as usual!

Danny, Noel Craig ask after you & said to say g'day! He also ask after Dani & Amber & of course, Ashly & Sarah............ He looks well but has a generic disease in his legs whereby he looses his balance & now gets around with a walking stick - but mind you, that didn't stop him.

Also saw Batesy - who is now back up in the mines! In fact, a lot of them have now returned to the mines while the families are living down on the coast.

The next one will be in Toowoomba, so if we go, will have to ensure we dress up for the cold!

Will post a couple of pics for you later.

Lionel has now had his op & is recovering well. I did ring him at the hospital, but "missed him by that much" - he had gone home, which was a good sign. I haven't spoken to him for awhile, so will try & phone today & see how he is.

Tricia & Paul - Lionel & Jan's daughter - are building on the coast & the house is now at the lock up stage. So no doubt they will be in it by Christmas or maybe sooner. I must add, it is very convenient to the racecourse - straight across the road in the next suburb..... I could walk to the races every Sunday! Would still come home broke, but even so I could walk!

Dennis is still home & yep, wouldn't believe it - still getting paid! I would like a job like him, although he has done quiet a bit of work here for the new jobs coming up in Dubai. I told him that his port would be quiet heavy on the way back!

He has finished in Africa and is not returning! The mining company they were contracted to, sacked and escorted the ex-pats off site about 1 month ago, as a new contractor had told the minig company that they could do the job a lot cheaper & faster! Yea right! The mining company is now going down the tube, including the contractor! Big court case going on at the moment!

"Our Bella Star" is running in Brsbane on Cup Day & is thought to be one of the favourite. I don't know how she will go, as she has come out of a long spell, but the trials have gone well & won all them. Woodie, will let you know what race she is in! Going down to Brisbane for the one race & then shooting back here for the races.

We also have races on Sunday - all day! It is a friend's sponsored day & have been invited to his function, which should be good - all free! No matter, I get into the track free anyone & usually sit up the member's stand drinking ice water. But mind you when the horse is running, I get a special ticket to go down stairs and "hobnob with the snobs" - well they think they are!

Anyone got any tips for the cup?

Until next time!

V
